What are your triumphs?

We’ll I’m loving the 7 day no-complaint challenge… and sure I caught myself in a complaint once or twice – but turned those into compliments. No one has called me out on a complaint yet, so I guess I’m doing pretty well at the challenge or I’m just getting better at catching myself before it comes out of my mouth. Either way, it feels good… and each time I catch myself before complaining, it’s a triumph!

I know triumph is not an everyday word – but it’s a great word. It’s better than success (so overused we hardly know what it means to us anymore), achievement, accomplishment, or other words.  I’m pasting the long definition of triumph from dictionary.com because it does mean more than just a huge victory which is I think the way we commonly think of the word. I especially like numbers 6, 7, and 8. And I believe that we can be happier today by recognizing our personal triumphs each day!

2. a significant success or noteworthy achievement; instance or occasion of victory.
3. exultation resulting from victory; joy over success.
4. Roman History . the ceremonial entrance into Rome of a victorious commander with his army, spoils of war, and captives, authorized by the senate in honor of an important military or naval victory. Compare ovation ( def. 2 ) .
5.a public pageant, spectacle, or the like.

7.to gain mastery; prevail: to triumph over fear.
8.to be successful; achieve success.
9.to exult over victory; rejoice over success.
10.to be elated or glad; rejoice proudly; glory.
11.to celebrate a triumph, as a victorious Roman commander.

12.to conquer; triumph over.
Victory is another great word and I began recording my daily victories a few months ago and it’s been a great tool that takes just 60 seconds a day to remind myself of 3 personal victories, successes, or triumphs I had each day. Khama Anku, of Spiritual Physique recommends a victory journal as part of her amazing program “Unleash Your Breakthrough” – a program that has helped me as I move through my own personal obstacles.
Three of my triumphs today… getting better at catching my complaints, had a great meeting with potential client, and caught up with an old friend.
